Rebecca James was born and raised in Georgia. She began studying the violin at age 3 with Valerie Gardner. Rebecca received the honor of performing as concertmaster of the Georgia All-State Orchestra in the spring of 1999. Rebecca joined the CSO in the fall of 1999 when she moved to Chattanooga in order to major in violin performance at Covenant College. While in college and beyond, Rebecca has continued to study the violin with Stephen Panchaud (also of the CSO) and Jay Christy of the Atlanta Symphony.
While studying at Covenant College, Rebecca and two other music students formed the Adonia String Trio in 2001. The trio has gone on to perform internationally with the progressive rock band Glass Hammer as well as extensively locally for many concerts, various events, and weddings. Adonia has recorded their own CDs and have been involved in many recording projects for other artists. They continue to record and perform locally as much as possible.
Rebecca is married and has five beautiful children. She is a homeschooling mom and stays very busy taking care of her family, playing with her trio, and performing with the Chattanooga Symphony.
